My friend Gary DeMar asks an interesting question about the book of Job and the Gospels. I’ll post my response shortly.

2009 Predictions, Part ?

January 29th, 2010

As the Brown victory and the TEAParties seem to have killed the whole enchillada approach to health care, I’m reminded of a debate I had with John Harwood on NBC back in Novemer. I said the Pelosi plan was ‘pulp’; Harwood said I was crazy. Can’t find the original video, but here’s an article which quoted me at the time.

Media Alert

On the air with Jerry Doyle, talking Obama bank break-up plan, and the use of anti-trust powers to govern in leiu of congressional power. If they can’t win in Congress they simply use the justice department and the regulators to harrass various businesses as a Nixonian Imperial Presidency. Why does Jerry Doyle get that, and so few conventional commentators do?

I will be on WBT in Charlotte tonight at 9 pm with Bob Davis. Topic: Obama’s proposal to break-up the banks. I can’t help but note that the Clinton bear market began the day he proposed to break up Microsoft. My inner cub is growling.

Voo Doo and Earthquakes, II

January 29th, 2010

Voo Doo and Earthquakes

January 29th, 2010

In the link below Al Mohler argues that Voo Doo does not directly cause earthquakes, so (subtext) maybe they’re unrelated, or maybe God sent a supernatural judgment. I think he and Robertson both miss the point. It’s not the earthquake itself that stands out in the Haitian disaster…

Of Voo Doo and Earthquakes

January 29th, 2010

Al Mohler seems to be trying to triangualate between Robertson and almost everyone else. Does Al get it right? ” We can trace the effects of a drunk driver to a car accident, but we cannot trace the effects of voodoo to an earthquake — at least not so directly. Will God judge Haiti for its spiritual darkness?”

Church Politics, II

January 29th, 2010

But that’s the way it works. The Church has been the training grounds for politics, especially the Episcopal Church. But the conservatives turned inward while the national Church burned. When they finally woke up, the only thing they had to offer were Church splits, leaving the national Church still on fire, and wounding hundreds of parishes.
