Te laudamus, Domine, Omnipotens, Qui sedes super cherubim and seraphin. Quem benedicunt angeli et archangeli, et laudent prophetae et apostoli!
THE BOOK IS DONE!
Frum to Etenrity, II
Frum’s memoir of his Bush years (The Right Man) from the very first sentence, details his culture shock at working with evangelicals. After being pushed out for a breach of confidentiality, Frum led the crusade against the SCOTUS nominee Harriet Meyers (an evangelical woman), and then another one against Palin (ditto). Is a lot of this disdain for the grassroots, is a disdain for our faith?
Frum to Eternity
There’s a religous/spiritual undertone to this Frum controversy that deserves more attention. Frum’s tendency to lash out at the grassroots of the movement seemed particularly honed towards religous people.
Who’s Hurt
As we see today in the health sector rally, health insurance and pharmaceuticals are clearly helped (at least for now). Who is hurt: Small business owners; potential employees of small business owners, and stock and bond owners in the top bracket. Longer run victims: minor children who will one day be adult taxpayers, and holders of dollars which will be debased in the monetization of all this debt.
Why Did Health Insurance Companies Rally Right After the Bill Passed?
For that matter so is Big Pharma. It’s because when you net out all the intermediate steps in the flow of funds, you find that this bill is a gigantic transfer of wealth from the entrepreneurial and investor class to large health care conglomerates via the public budget.
Defense Strategies
If you don’t have an HSA, get one before the new health regime outlaws new HSA plans. Pre-purchase OTC items like supplements before they’re made taxable, which the bill does. If you want to stay in the free system start to learn about medical tourism. I may start posting info about this. If you are a small business owner, don’t expand above fifty employees to avoid the mandates
History is a School for the Nations:
“Nations do not recieve rewards or punishments in the afterlife, so they have to receve their judgments here.” John Dickinson, Pa Representative to the Constitutional Convention, quoted from my very fallible memory.
The Ultimate Form of Protest is Survival:
It’s long past time to begin to think hard about how to get through this. Much has been said about how bad national health care is, but the time has come to start to talk about how to get through it, as well as all othe aspects of Obamanomics.
Free Knowledge Alert:
Attached is Roger Garrison’s video lectue on the Austrian Theory of the Trade Cycle. It explains the bust/boom cycle, and is especially good on the matter of the trade-offs between consumption and investment. Also availalbe for free on i-tunes
